Safety Savvy
We live and work in a dangerous and uncertain world. What allows some people to stay safe and avoid accidents whilst others seem prone to injury? Based on the best-selling book of the same name, this highlyparticipative workshop explores the Five Truths of the Safety Savvy – the five things that everyone needs to know, think and do in order to stay safe. Fast-paced, using humour, team and individual exercises this workshop is perfect for small, medium and large-sized groups from within shift teams, departments or across the organization and will leave delegates clear on what they need to do to go home safely tonight and every night.
This workshop is also available as a Train-the-Trainer option where your selected staff are fully trained and accredited to lead the program as inhouse trainers and deliver the full content, bespoked to your organization.
Speak up and Stay Safe
In the workplace, your safety depends on the behavior of both yourself and your colleagues. Following safety procedures to the letter on your own is not enough. Teams performing the best in challenging situations are teams whose members are not afraid to speak up when they see something is not right. Caring about others and doing so openly is the best way to ensure that your colleagues will be there when you need them. Everybody makes mistakes, so having someone next to you able to spot yours and noticing you when you are doing something wrong can sometimes save your life. In this workshop you’ll learn how to create a supportive environment where members of your team care for each other for the greater good. This interactive session creates a platform to practice speaking up and reacting timely when stakes are high.
Working Outside the Comfort Zone
As individuals, we tend to evolve in a comfort zone that we create for ourselves. It is usually a limited space, with boundaries (physical or mental) that we set ourselves and is useful to focus and do productive work. Safety procedures are doing precisely this, establishing limits within which workers feel safe to accomplish their tasks. However, even with the best reflection and anticipation, the workplace might bring some unprecedented and unpredictable situations for which workers won’t be prepared. In other words, having to evolve outside of the comfort zone might not be a choice. It’s key to be able to stay focused, aware of the evolution of the situation and able to react timely and coherently. So in this workshop we use exercises to challenge your team in a serious but fun way to keep your minds open to new rules, new situations and enable you to think and act quickly regardless of the context.
